Climbing Since: 2003

Mazamas Leader Since: 2007

Preferred Pace
(1-slow, 5-fast):
3.5 - Almost all of our leaders say they are a 3. But amongst the people that have climbed with me, the consensus is 3 1/2

I Like Climbing On: Rock

Mazamas Service: Assistant to BCEP '04 to '07, AYM Committee and hike leader '04 to present, Climb Committee '07 to present, Risk Management Committee '06 to '07, Climb Night coordinator '05 to present, Assistant to MFA '06, Assistant to Ski Mountaineering '07, Assistant Coordinator for 2008 AR class, Lead Coordinator for 2009 AR class

Major Climbing Achievements: The Matterhorn, The Turkey Monster, becoming a Mazama Climb Leader and most of all: the friendships that I have made being a part of this wonderful organization

Climbing and Leadership Philosophy: I like to take people to really cool places or on climbs that I have found to be fun and enjoyable. Climbing is a democracy and I'm just one of the team. It takes a team effort to get to the top and everybody's input is required.

Favorite Summit Treat: Brownies and Ice Cream!

Personal Information: I am a native to Oregon but it wasn't until my first venture up Mt. Hood in 1993 that sparked any interest in this stuff for me. There is something mystical about being in the mountains and I enjoy the sense of accomplishment when I reach a summit. My wife, Erika and I both enjoy climbing and when we're not doing that, you can usually find us on the river behind our boat wakeboarding or Sky Skiing.
