I Like Climbing On: Everything

Mazamas Service: ICS field session assistant, BCEP assistant, First Aid Committee member, AYM hike leader

Major Climbing Achievements: Mt. Hood, Mt. Katahdin at the tail end of a five-month-long Appalachian Trail thru-hike, Sierra traverse (Guitar Lake -> Mt. Whitney -> Forester Pass -> Glen Pass -> Pinchot Pass -> Mather Pass - > Muir Pass -> Selden Pass -> Vermillion Valley Resort) in 8 days.

Climbing and Leadership Philosophy: The journey is the reward. If you're not enjoying yourself during the majority of your climbs, you should make a change. Be it your attitude, climbing technique, the routes, or mountaineering altogether, if you're doing something that is making you unhappy, do something else. I love to teach and greatly enjoy the look on somebody's face when they "get it." I try to learn something on every climb and remember where I started. Don't forget your roots; some of the best teachers are students themselves.

Favorite Summit Treat: Peanut butter cups and/or a great view

Personal Information: I'm a Portland native though I moved to Salem at the age of 6. At the age of 18, I moved back to Portland and while I've traveled elsewhere for brief periods of time, this is definitely home.
