A slick way to carry pills in your First Aid kit

Most everyone carries some kind of pills in their first aid kit - aspirin, Advil, (aka “vitamin I”), or even more serious pain killers.  But no one needs to keep more than a few pills handy for a short hike or climbing trip.  How do you carry a small number of pills and nor have them get lost, crushed, or mixed up with other medications?
Here’s a solution:  Cut a drinking straw so it’s a few inches long, place the pills inside it, and tape the ends of the straw closed.  Using a permanent pen, write on the outside of the straw the type of pills and the date you bought them.  This “straw storage” takes up no room, weighs nothing, is free, and can keep a small number of several types of pills organized in your kit.  If you use some, simply restock the straw from a larger bottle you have at home.
