Blisters - first aid tip

Blisters - first aid tip

Two different Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) through hikers told me about this tip:
If you get a blister and have to keep walking the next day, take a sterilized needle and thread it with dental floss (we all carry dental floss, right?) and push it through the blister and trim off the ends, leaving some floss ticking out. The next day you’re back walking on leather!

This trick works because the dental floss keeps draining the blister. Once the surface of the blister is toughened up, pull out the dental floss. Avoid mint or cinnamon dental floss, as it will sting. One of the through hikers said she had pieces of floss sticking out all over her feet and wouldn’t have made it without this trick.

Thanks to Mazama John Davis for sending in this Tip
