Condiment packets for backcountry dining

It’s the dinnertime on the third day of the climb, and the thought of another evening of freeze-dried glop is putting your teeth on edge. How to liven up dinner in the backcountry? With a few single serving packets of various condiments, you can add some major pizzazz to your boil-in-a-bag meals. Mayonnaise, mustard, honey, soy sauce, salad dressing, hot sauce, red pepper flakes, salt and pepper, and lots of other goodies are available in convenient single serving packets. Plan your meals, add a few packages into a small Ziploc bag, and you’re set.
Advantages: portion control (one serving, one packet) stable packaging (can’t take a Nalgene jar of mayo on a 3 day trip), and ultralight (you eat everything you bring.)
Downsides: lots of little annoying and wasteful bits of plastic - be sure and bring an extra plastic bag for the trash.
(Now if we can only get Trader Joes in on this, we can look forward to truffle oil, balsamic vinegar and Vermont maple syrup in the backcountry!)

Check out this company -  they sell individual single serving packets of almost any food you can imagine.
