DIY - Leashless ice tool tetherClimbing leashless with ice two tools is the current trend on steeper ice climbs. On longer alpine routes leashless climbing has certain advantages, but here, a dropped tool can be a very serious problem (unlike most 1 pitch ice climbing areas.) There are a few ways to rig axes to your harness so they can never be dropped. Here’s a link to a slick method for a double lanyard, using a swivel, thin ½” webbing and a bungee cord. Some companies charge upwards of $40 for this setup, but the hardware costs under $10 and will take just a few minutes to make. Check it out: From Alpine Dave: Make your own leashless tool tether
