Electrical cord ties - great in the fix-it kit
Want to add a handy and super light item to your fix-it kit or 10 essentials bag? Toss in a few plastic electrical cord ties - the strong plastic strips that have a one-way ratcheting mechanism, used by electricians to bundle a mess of wiring together. (If you don’t want to buy 200 of them, ask a friend with a big toolbox for a few.) These can save the day in the backcountry, with the main use being fixing busted crampons, packs and snowshoes. Maybe you can even rappel on them in a pinch - but be sure to equalize the anchor. (just kidding!)
