Opening a stuck locking biner
Sometimes a screw gate locking biner can be almost impossible to open, especially if it has been weighted and unweighted. Here’s a trick that usually works: Clip (or girth hitch) a long sling to the stuck biner. Stand in it, (or maybe bounce on the sling) and at the same time, unscrew the gate. This “stretches” the metal just a tiny amount, causing the threads to loosen a bit.
