Winter camping fires

Evening socializing on a snow camping trip can be a lot nicer with a fire. There are several ways to do this with lots of snow on the ground - here’s one. If one of your stronger party members has a sled, big pack and/or doesn’t mind a bit extra weight, bring along a presto-type log and a cookie sheet or some similar flat metal sheet. The log burns great, is dry, and with a rock or sticks under the sheet, does not sink into the snow. r
