Reserve Climbing Guidebooks

When you want to research routes for your upcoming adventure, the Mazamas Mountaineering Center is your first stop.  Now, the frustration of stopping by the library for the one key route description or photo you need and finding checked out is a thing of the past.

The Mazamas library now has a reserve collection of the most popular guidebooks covering every climbing route in the NW that are always available.  The books are in the membership services office (not in the library), so just ask any staff member if you need one.  Again, these books do not circulate, so please keep them here so we all can use them.  (We also have circulating copies of many of these titles, so if you want to check one you usually can.) Look through any guidebook, find the route you need, and make a photocopy for free!

These titles are available:

  • Cascade Alpine Guide Volume 1, 2 and 3, by (Mazama) Fred Beckey
  • Oregon High, by (Mazama) Jeff Thomas
  • Climbing Washington’s Mountains, by Jeff Smoot
  • Classic Climbs of the Northwest, by Alan Kearney
  • Selected Climbs in the North Cascades Volume 1 and 2, by Nelson and Potterfield
  • 75 Scrambles in Oregon, by (Mazama) Barbara Bond
  • 75 Scrambles in Washington, by Peggy Goldman
  • Washington’s Highest Mountains, by Peggy Goldman
  • A Climber’s Guide to the Olympic Mountains, by Olympic Mountain Rescue
  • A Climber’s Guide to Oregon, by Nick Dodge
