SR A1, A2, A3 May 15 (Thu) Southwest Side Street Ramble. Walk up and down the hills of Southwest Portland. One group, led by Jane Roberts, will go at a slightly more than moderate pace while a second group, led by Bob Miller, will go at a slightly less than moderate pace. Must park on street (not in the Community Center lot!).

HK A2.5 May 17 (Sat) Bald Butte, car shuttle. Judith Zineski.  A novel approach to a less done hike. This will be a slightly challenging” A” hike. We may see lovely wildflowers, including Hounds Tongue, hang gliders; mad mountain bicyclists on the first, very steep part, fruit blossom in the valley below-perhaps even the dead cow skeleton. It could be windy. Leader pace actually 2.3mph ( Brisk!). 6 miles 1800 ft. Dr. 145 Gateway 8 a.m.

HK B1 May 17 (Sat) Dog Mountain - Wildflower Identification Hike. Barry Maletzky (503)260-8228 What’s the name of that little blue flower? Why is it growing on this slope and not in the valley below? That white one looks like what I have growing in my garden. Are they related? Join us on a free wildflower identification and appreciation hike on lucky Saturday, May 17th. Amateur botanist Barry Maletzky will lead us on an easily paced hike up Dog Mountain at the height of the flower season. We will hike up the steeper west side and then loop down the east trail, of course enjoying many stops to inspect the flora and learn about the names of the plants, how they received their names, and their relationships to other plants in our mountains and to familiar plants in our gardens back home. Because of the popularity of this hike, we must limit the number of participants to the first nine hikers who call the leader, Barry Maletzky (503)260-8228 or (360)314-6024. Our apologies: Any larger group would make the identification of, and education about, the flowers very difficult for those in the rear of the group 7.2 miles 2900 ft. Dr. 98 TH 8:30 a.m. Call Leader for details
